Banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI), and telecom are among the sectors most vulnerable to frauds when it comes to scamsters using fake customer care, a report by digital threat identifi cation company CloudSEK has revealed.

Both the sectors, along with healthcare, saw high occurrences of scamsters using company names and logos, or content, on fraud sites to scam users into divulging sensitive information which could result in financial loss to an individual.

The report also showed that of all such fake Indian numbers, 80% are still valid and operational, and SIM cards from all private telecom operators are used to create these fake customer care numbers.
