Barclays’ Avinash Thakur has been promoted to head of capital markets financing, Asia Pacific (Apac), effective immediately.

In addition to heading debt origination for Barclays in Apac, Thakur (pictured), who is based in Hong Kong, will assume additional responsibilities of leading the region’s equity financing activities for the bank.

According to a Barclays April 12 statement, Thakur’s promotion “simplifies” the bank’s origination team structure in Apac, and he has been tasked with deepening discussions with clients by “providing holistic financing solutions”.

Thakur will continue to report to Vanessa Koo, head of investment banking, Apac, and will now also report to Travis Barnes and Tom Johnson, global co-heads of capital markets at the London-headquartered bank.
