Blink Charging Co. (NASDAQ:BLNK) announced a new agreement on Tuesday whereby the company will become the first to offer direct current fast charging (DCFC) chargers in Pennsylvania.
The company said that four Blink EV chargers are due for installation at the Southport Plaza in Philadelphia. The technology will allow for “reduced stress on the grid, allowing drivers to charge even during black-out conditions” and thus will also reduce the burden on utilities companies and local municipalities. The project was supported by a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Driving PA Forward program, which aims to update the state’s charging infrastructure.
“This innovative battery storage technology is an exciting innovation to EV charging and we’re proud to launch this unit in Pennsylvania as we look ahead to other regions where this technology can be used,” Blink CEO Brendan Jones said. “We have made it a goal at Blink to address the concerns of EV drivers, such as grid dependency, and work with our world-class engineers and stakeholders to develop solutions. This battery storage unit certainly does that.”
The company is also eyeing the installation of 25 charging sites across the state of Florida, according to the press release.
