On Friday, October 21, The House Select Committee investigating the events of Jan. 6, 2021, in the nation’s capital issued a subpoena to former President Donald Trump.

In the final minutes of the committee’s last hearing before the midterm elections, which it held on Oct. 13, members voted unanimously to issue the subpoena. Mr. Trump responded with a blistering letter to the committee but has not said whether he would obey a subpoena. A source close to the 45th president reportedly said Trump relished the thought of testifying, but his legal team has come out in opposition to the idea.

Mr. Trump has not been asked to attend an open hearing but his deposition has been set for Nov. 14 at 10 a.m – in person or via video conference.

The 10-page subpoena lists multiple allegations made by the committee, relating to the demonstration and unrest that occurred on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, the day that Congress certified the Electoral College votes of the 2020 presidential election.
