Startup Founders:

Startup one-liner:

Codeless test automation with a simple, intuitive drag-and-drop user interface, enabling QA to keep pace with development while reducing costs.

Problem the startup solves:

Traditional test automation requires dedicated personnel and deep pockets. DoesQA makes it so easy everyone can create tests, and we make it faster and cheaper with a built-in cloud runner.

Progress and Current Status:

Launched, with startups and major brands using DoesQA daily. Currently building on exposure and creating brand recognition. Fully bootstrapped so far.

What is an Inspiring Story about the Startup?:

DoesQA is the marriage of ideas Sappo & Sam had a few years ago. But neither of us was in a position to quit our jobs and work on our project full-time. Working long days as contract SDETs, then “switching gears” and starting a second long day in the evenings has been tough.

We managed to build the software but didn’t consider any marketing or showing anyone anything. Also, we had new ideas every day that we wanted to implement into “our baby” because we would want the features if we were using it daily. We were in a perpetual dev cycle. How do you know if you have enough to show someone?

We realise now if you’re starting to ask yourself that question, you probably should have started showing people already!

We were lucky to demo an early version of DoesQA to a few people at Superdry PLC. The feedback and excitement we saw has powered us through many long days since! We didn’t even have a company yet! We gave them a trial while we quickly incorporated a business and wrote contracts. They became our first paying customers!

We have now launched and started to see organic growth. Demo early, demo often, don’t just build in a vacuum!

What is a Company the Startup Looks Up to, and Why?:

There are so many!

Dropbox was the first which came to mind. Software which just slips into your daily routine, making your life better without requiring any effort at all. Dropbox is patient, they give you time to fall in love with everything and learn about the additional features.

Airbnb is just a great story, and there’s so much information about its early days. From having to arrive with an envelope of cash because the site couldn’t take payment; to its visual transformation into a simple, clean, beautiful site. I think any startup, at any stage, could find inspiration from many of the Airbnb anecdotes out there. I know I have.

The Company in Four Years Will Be…

The Way Everyone Does QA.

The feedback we have been getting from people who have used DoesQA is fantastic. We have already seen some virality where someone has organically taken it to a new company after changing jobs.

Assuming this continues and we continue with our scientific approach to growth, which has worked so well this far, DoesQA will be the go-to solution for all teams looking to improve their QA with automation testing.
