The pan-European Stoxx 600 (STOXX) ticked up 0.2% on Wednesday, with sectors trading in mixed territory, as investors in the U.K. braced for the budget. Healthcare stocks fell, while chemicals rose. Market focus also remains on Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s testimony before the House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday, for more clarity on how the central bank plans on proceeding with monetary policy this year.
Coming up in the session: Euro zone January retail sales figures coming up shortly, followed by U.S. job openings and Bank of Canada meeting later in the day.
In the bond market, the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield (US10Y) was up 3 basis points to 4.16%.
Germany’s 10-year yield was up 3 basis point to 2.35%.
U.K.’s 10-year yield was up 5 basis points to 4.06%.
