January FHFA House Price Index: -0.1% vs. +0.2% consensus and +0.1% in December (unrevised).
“U.S. house prices declined slightly in January, marking the first decrease since August 2022,” said Dr. Anju Vajja, deputy director for Federal Housing Finance Agency’s Division of Research and Statistics. “However, the year-over-year house price growth remained near the historical average.”
From a year ago, home prices advanced 6.3%, easing from the 6.7% increase Y/Y in December.
