I own $10,000 on my Citibank. I was making payments of $300 a month until the card got hacked. A purchase was made in Saudi Arabia. I’m located in the U.S. That got flagged immediately. I got it sorted out with the credit card company and fraud department. I was issued a new card, which I have not activated. This is the first time that has happened to me. My other credit cards have never been hacked. I don’t feel comfortable using this card anymore.
I missed two months of payment and the amount jumped up from $300 to $900. I spoke with a rep. from the bank. I was having financial issues since being laid off. I was making payments to bills that were more of a priority. They offered me two payment plans. The short-term: they’ll lower to $900 to $700. After that the payments per month will be $170 for six months. No interest will be added. After six months the payments will be $400 a month. The long-term: is the same deal as the short-term with the addition that it continues to be $170 with no interest. The account will be closed. I can no longer use the card anymore. I agreed to the long-term plan because I don’t know if I’ll be able to make the $400 payment after six months.
