Editor’s Note: From the Back Forty is Liberty Nation’s longest-running and most popular weekly column. Capturing the truth each week from heartlanders in flyover states, LN gives voice to the hard-working Americans otherwise ignored by the coastal elites.

The Speaker of the House threw down some violence on a newly released video, one graduating medical class swears an oath to wokeness, and Senate Democrats are beginning to feel a bit queasy. Heartlanders cannot decide whether to cut loose with comments, keep scrolling, face-palm the lunatics or go to the pub and hope there isn’t cable news on the big screen televisions. It might be time to drown sorrows and rock the jukebox.

One Democrat Sparks a New Conspiracy

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has everyone jabbering about the protests on Jan. 6, 2021. Alexandra Pelosi, the speaker’s daughter, was filming a documentary on that fateful day. Younger Pelosi captured this fine example of American leadership from her mother upon hearing Trump say he would meet protesters at the Capitol: “I hope he comes. I want to punch him out. We’re waiting for this, for trespassing on the Capitol grounds. I want to punch him out, and I’m going to go to jail, and I’m going to be happy.” Well, that was some threatening talk from the octogenarian, and it resonated with folks who, truth be told, may overthink.

In Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Alexia Rose Angle said what many folks are thinking: “Looks like she knew something would happen because she said she was waiting for this to happen! They knew beforehand because they were in on it.” Others said she was calling for violence against Trump – at the time, a sitting president. But others saw how embarrassing this snippet of tape could be when other nations viewed it. Sally Ballou in Texas: “And she is a representative of the US. Imagine what other countries are saying. Just wow.”

But this Georgia Peach, Cheryl Little, agreed with Madam Speaker, saying, “I would like to see her in jail.”

First, Oh, Never Mind

It was a first for medical students at the University of Minnesota, well, for any university anywhere. During the prestigious white coat ceremony to become a newly minted physician, students pledged to “honor all indigenous ways of healing historically marginalized by Western medicine” and fight “white supremacy, colonialism, gender binary, ableism, and all forms of oppression.” The rite of passage, which should have been more of the “first do no harm” type, was led by the associate dean for undergraduate education, Dr. Robert Englander. He proudly had his flock reciting that they would “commit to uprooting the legacy and perpetuation of structural violence deeply embedded within the health care system.” Whatever that means.

Marge Allan Stamer in Granville, IA, got right to the point: “I will make sure to ask, where any Doctor I consider went to school.” Followed closely by Steven D. Stein in the Buckeye state, who sniped, “My surgeon may not be the best, but thank goodness he/she/whatever uses the right pronouns…said no patient ever.” Meanwhile, in Gate, OK,  Dale Long threw in his ten cents, “In other words, blatant racism against whites. Throw in hypocritical violation of the Hippocratic Oath, and you have a profession that is exactly what Obama promoted with government-run health care. Just give them a pill and let them die, and as a bonus, especially if they’re white. Discrimination is now acceptable revenge.”

If You Are a Democrat in the Senate…

New banner It’s the Economy, StupidSenate Democrats are feeling a bit ill this week after a Wednesday Politico/Morning Consult poll shows Independents rapidly cooling on President Joe Biden. Republicans and Democrats need that swing vote. And, as one might surmise, “It’s the economy, stupid.”  Biden’s approval has dropped to 29%, and 82% say Biden’s America is “seriously” off track. Democrats must hang on to North Carolina, Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania to retain the Senate. Or perhaps a more manageable task is to prevent Republicans from sneaking up and taking seats in Georgia, New Hampshire, Nevada, Arizona, or Washington State. The anxiety among the swing state candidates is rising.

Waco, TX, weighed in via patriot Jeff Brown, “Imagine the scrambling around by his keepers to shore this catastrophe up.” But from Minnesota, Thomas Borden warns, “It is long past the ‘worry’ stage. The only worry they have is how do they cheat their way to being reelected.”
