TDS Telecommunications, a unit of Telephone and Data Systems (NYSE:TDS), said on Monday that it had located about 10 miles of lead covered cables in its network across the United States. 

The unit of the U.S. regional phone company said that it was identifying steps to address the lead cabling in its network.

On July 9, the Wall Street Journal reported that AT&T (T), Verizon (VZ) and other telecom giants deserted a sprawling underground network of toxic lead cables across the United States.
