Twitter sent a letter to Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) warning that the tech giant may be in multiple violations of a previous agreement and improperly using its data.
“Microsoft may have been in violation of multiple provisions of the agreement for an extended period of time,” Alex Spiro, Elon Musk’s lawyer wrote in a letter to Microsoft (MSFT) CEO Nadella, according to the New York Times.
The letter added that Microsoft (MSFT) used more data from Twitter than it was supposed to and that it had shared Twitter data with government agencies without receiving permission from the Elon Musk-led company.
Microsoft (MSFT) and Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
Last month, Musk, who purchased Twitter for $44B in October 2022, threatened to sue Microsoft (MSFT) over claims the company trained its artificial intelligence model illegally using Twitter data.
“They trained illegally using Twitter data,” Musk tweeted. “Lawsuit time.”
Microsoft has said previously it intends to remove Twitter from its corporate advertising platform, adding that it would not pay for the site’s API fees.
“Other social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn will continue to be available,” Microsoft said.
